The INTOSAI Development Initiative (IDI) is a non-profit foundation who support Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) in developing countries to sustainably enhance their performance and capacity. Our work is done through a sustainable and needs-based approach. We seek to empower SAIs by promoting gender-responsive and peer-to-peer cooperation as essential elements of long-term capacity development.

We are looking for IDI’s Strategic Communications Manager (SCM) who is responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of effective communication strategies to further our organization's mission vision and Strategic Plan. 

The role will focus on leading IDI’s communications efforts, building relationships and fostering engagement with key stakeholders including Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) and SAI supporters, donors, partners and the media. The SCM plays a key role in shaping the narrative and driving engagement on issues that are critical to IDI, INTOSAI and our SAI community. The SCM also serves in INTOSAI’s Network of Communications Officers.

Duties and responsibilities

• Responsible for maintaining and driving a multi-channel communications strategy across the organisation, including the development of an overall organizational voice that allows for flexibility and distinctive initiatives
• Manage overall content provision and dissemination for IDI, generating original content to enhance IDI's profile and providing writing and editorial overviews and expertise for reports, Global Public Goods (GPGs), articles, press releases and more.
• Develop and implement communication strategies and plans to support the overall IDI strategy.
• Ensure all IDI’s communications platforms, assets and materials reflect IDI’s Strategic Priorities, digitilisation, sustainability and Public Trust in SAIs.
• Collaborate with internal teams, including the Digital Communications Manager, providing advice to ensure that IDI’s communications efforts are aligned with the broader strategic goals and operational plans as well as workstream-led initiatives delivered at a global, regional or country level.

Qualifications and personal qualities

• Educated to minimum Bachelor degree level in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or related field. 
• Proven experience of 5 - 7 years in strategic communications, preferably within the non-profit sector, with a proven track record of success in devising, delivering and creating impact with communications strategies and related policies, processes, guidelines and toolkits.
• Excellent writing, editing, and presentation skills.
• Excellent ability to work collaboratively in a culturally diverse and team-oriented environment.
• Proficiency in using social media platforms, content management systems, and analytics tools.
• Demonstrated experience in managing press and media engagement.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Fluency in English required. Ability to communicate in the other INTOSAI languages Arabic, French or Spanish preferred.
